Help Change the Lives of Young People. It Matters.

WHAT IS THE FIND A LECTURER PROJECT

FIND A LECTURER AS A PORTAL

The Find a Lecturer project is primarily a portal www.najdilektora.cz and najdilektora.sk, containing a database of lecturers in the Czech and Slovak Republics who visit primary and secondary schools to deliver ethical and preventive programs.

These programs are usually backed by lecturing organizations with rich histories and certified programs.

The project is unique because it is a network of several lecturing organizations that together cover various locations across the country. Lecturers often speak about topics they have personally dealt with in their lives, thus sharing personal experience with children, not just theory.

The goal of these programs is to impart good life values to young people that they can begin to build on. The most common topics of preventive programs at schools include: Relationships, Cyberbullying, Bullying, Addictions, Sex, AIDS, Holocaust

FIND A LECTURER AS A DONOR FUND

FIND A LECTURER is also a donor fund through which we support lecturing activities in the F-Foundation. The donor fund runs selection procedures through which lecturers are chosen to receive support for their lecturing work in the given school year.

The goal of FIND A LECTURER is to pass on good life values to young people that they can start building on. Another goal is to give students space to openly talk about important topics and grow personally.

The foundation started supporting lecturing activities in 2003. In 2012, it supported 12 lecturers. Currently (school year 2024/25), 96 Czech and 4 Slovak lecturers are supported.

The FIND A LECTURER fund supports the work of specific lecturers in specific lecturing organizations.

About Lecturers

Lecturers are people who either work full-time as lecturers or do it alongside their other jobs. They have pedagogical, social, or other necessary qualifications. They are supported by a lecturing organization that provides methodological guidance and offers intervision and supervision care. Lecturers also continue their education to improve their expertise.

Lecturers provide interactive programs, meaning it is not a lecture but a joint activity involving the whole class. The participation of the class teacher is also welcome.

Personal Value

  • A lecturer is not a school teacher; they are an external expert and not involved in the school’s internal relationships.
  • They can say the same things (truths) as a teacher, but in a different way.
  • They have the potential to gain greater trust as a new person from outside.
  • A lecturer is less bound by the formal authority of a teacher and can open up more about their personal stories.

People who work as lecturers in schools have often personally gone through the topics they talk about (such as drug addiction or internet addiction). Therefore, they do not speak only on a theoretical level. They have experienced the consequences of risky behavior themselves and can share both experiences and personal emotions.

Professional Perspective

Programs are delivered by lecturers who are often affiliated with lecturing organizations. As a foundation, we cooperate with more than 10 lecturing organizations in the Czech Republic, the main ones being:

  • ABATOP
  • ACET Czech Republic
  • Pavučina, o.p.s.
  • Maják o.p.s.
  • Hope4kids, z.s.
  • ICEJ Czech Republic
  • Etická a Charakterová Výchova, z.ú.

Role of Lecturers

Lecturers are the heart of our program and the key to successfully passing knowledge to students at schools. Their work requires not only expertise but also teaching skills, patience, and the ability to inspire young people.

The Importance of Supporting Lecturers

Supporting lecturers means investing in the quality of education – it allows us to provide lecturers with ongoing training and ensure they have the best materials and tools for teaching.

The Impact of Your Support

When you support our lecturers, you directly support thousands of students who, thanks to their work, gain valuable skills and knowledge for their future. Every crown invested in our lecturers returns in the form of higher-quality education and a positive impact on entire generations of young people.

Financing of Lecturers by Schools

Lecturers are partially financed for their work by the schools themselves, which are obligated to provide a certain number of hours of primary prevention based on § 7 paragraph 3 of Decree 197/2016. More about school obligations here http://www.nuv.cz/t/pprch.

Insufficient Cost Coverage

However, the contribution from the school does not cover all costs related to the preparation and implementation of the program.

Support from F-Foundation

For this reason, F-foundation provides lecturers with the opportunity to receive support of 130 CZK for each hour of implemented prevention program.

Selection Process

Lecturers apply annually in a selection process for support of lecturing activities for the following school year. In their plan for the school year, they request support for the number of hours they want to implement.

Role of External Lecturers

Every elementary school has the obligation to develop a minimal prevention program, which can be implemented both with their own resources and with the help of external lecturers. These lecturers come into classrooms and have the advantage of not being bound by local relationships and potential historical problems. They can bring a fresh perspective on classroom issues, etc.

Legal Framework

Decree No. 197/2016 Sb., which amends Decree No. 72/2005 Sb., on the provision of counseling services in schools and school counseling facilities, as amended by later regulations, and some other decrees effective from September 1, 2016, brings among other things, based on provision § 7 paragraph 3, the school’s obligation to develop and implement the school’s prevention program including a strategy for preventing school failure, bullying, and other manifestations of risky behavior.

Areas of Provided Programs

  • truancy
  • bullying
  • racism/xenophobia
  • extremism and cults
  • sexual risky behavior
  • addictology (smoking, alcohol, illegal drugs)
  • netolism (internet, TV, PC game addiction)
  • eating disorders
  • abuse and maltreatment
  • classroom relationships and class collective
  • partnership, relationships and love
  • life before birth, abortion

Generation Z

Generation Z is a generation that was born after the rise of mass technology use, this generation practically grew up with a mobile phone in hand. Their entire lives they have used communication and media technologies – such as the internet, instant messaging – internet access is not limited only to home connection, but they have it everywhere with them. They are known for living online and at a fast pace, instant sharing of thoughts and insights on various topics, using media and products.
We often mistakenly think that their lives are simple, full of possibilities and opportunities. It may seem that they don’t deal with real problems, however the opposite is true. Reality and studies prove that today’s young people deal with self-harm, depression, bullying, drugs, they have fears that they won’t handle the demands placed on them by society and family. They are afraid that they don’t belong anywhere. Every day they fight to free themselves from often hopeless situations that life has put them in.
Studies about generations help understand the behavior of a particular generation, empathize with it, and based on that work with it effectively.
